While it’s visually stunning, the real beauty of London is how much it can feel like an entirely different place depending on where you are in the city. 1.) The Vaults

Waterloo station is a sight in itself, BUT the real attraction lies underneath. Located in unused tunnels underneath the station are hundreds of eye popping artworks. These spray painted creations come in all shapes and sizes from highly detailed minuscule masterpieces to widespread portraits carpeting the walls and ceiling. If you’re looking for the most unique hidden gem in London, then this spot is for you!

Pro Tip- You can even grab some spray paint and make your own work of art!

2.) Sealife Aquarium

Often overlooked due to its close proximity to the London Eye and Big Ben, the Sealife Aquarium is definitely worth a stop. Proudly displaying numerous exotic animals in multiple biomes, including piranhas of the Amazon rainforest and penguins from the icy waters of the Arctic. See a world of aquatic animals all in the heart of London!

3.) Big Ben

No trip to London is complete without seeing Big Ben right? Standing at over 300ft for more than 150 years, the visually impressive tower makes for some fantastic pictures. Being the most visited site in London chances are you will run into a large crowd, but when you see the historic clocktower in person you understand the hype.

Pro Tip- There’s a nearby park great for getting unobstructed pictures.

4.) London Chinatown

This small section of London near Leicester Square feels as though you have left London and entered a different city entirely. Large Chinese-style archways, rows upon rows of lanterns strewn above the streets, and of course the best Asian food in the city are just a few of the many attractions that make London’s Chinatown worth a visit. 

Pro Tip- Try to check it out during the Chinese New Year to see an amazing spectacle!

5.) London Eye

If you’re looking for an unforgettable experience, the largest Ferris wheel in Europe is near the top of the list. As the enclosed pods whisk you up over 400 feet, you’re presented with clear unrivaled views stretching for miles and miles across the city. Seeing the city lights come to life after dark makes the view that much more memorable!

Pro Tip- Getting tickets online is a must to avoid the astronomically large lines.

6.) Experience The Thrill Of A Football Match

Whether you’re a lifelong fan or have never seen a second of soccer, checking out a match is one of the best things to do in the city. The energetic crowd’s nonstop chanting, singing, and cheering is unlike any other sport. It also helps that London is home to some of the best teams in the world. At the top of the list is the $1 billion+ masterpiece that is Tottenham Hotspur Stadium… COYS!

7.) Tower Bridge

Built over a century ago and among the city’s most famous landmarks, the Tower Bridge is a must see in London. Often confused for the “London Bridge,” this iconic crossing stands over 200ft. There are also tours that take you inside the towers and across the upper walkway giving you a great view of the city!

Pro Tip- If you wait for a large ship you can see the drawbridge open and close.

8.) British Museum

Considered to be one of the best and most impressive museums in the world, this beautiful building does not disappoint. Walk back through time with each section of the multi-level building featuring ancient pieces of history like the Rosetta Stone, statues from the Acropolis, and so much more. Plus it’s free!

Pro Tip- It usually takes a couple of hours to walk through the entire museum, so make sure you have plenty of time.

9.) Candlelight Concert

Sometimes you need a break from the crowded streets of London, and attending a candlelight concert is the perfect way to escape the hustle and bustle.   Listening to blissfully played music bathed in the soft glow of hundreds of candles makes for an undeniably divine way to spend an evening. Prepare to have your troubles whisked away while enjoying everything from timeless symphonies to modern songs given an enchanting orchestral twist.

When you go to one of the best London markets, you’re sure to find items as unique as the people!

11.) Soho Food

Walking around the streets of downtown London will surely work up an appetite, and there’s no better place to go than Soho! Known as one of the best food hubs in the world, this burrow is home to Michelin caliber restaurants seemingly on every corner. Plus these world-class eateries are just a short walk away from a number of big tourist attractions.

12.) Hyde Park

Craving some fresh air and beautiful plant life? This absolutely massive park located slightly west of Buckingham Palace is the place to go. Sitting at 350 acres with miles of pathways, a gorgeous Italian garden, and a gigantic lake with paddle boats for rent, you will surely find the city escape you’ve been looking for.

Pro Tip- Try one of the cafes along the lake for a delicious brunch.

13.) Holland Park

If you’re searching for open outdoor space with tons of greenery and you find Hyde Park a bit too crowded, then this lesser known park is the one for you. The peaceful Japanese garden is the ideal getaway to relax your troubles away. Holland Park is also home to several vibrant peacocks!

14.) Portobello Market

 Every weekend for over 150 years Portobello Street is overrun with a slew of secondhand sellers featuring everything vintage to handmade. Chocked full of hidden gems and intriguing antiques, you never know what you will find! You can also find some delectable food stands along the way.

Pro Tip- Bring a bag as all sellers may not provide them.

15.) Prince Charles Movie Theater

I know what you’re thinking, “Why would I travel all the way to London to go to a movie theater?” But I promise you haven’t been to a movie theater like this. With an old school film projector and a curtained stage, this theater gives you a nostalgic taste of how the movies used to be. There’s something special about going to a theater known for showing numerous cult classic movies while the theater has become a cult classic itself.

16.) Imperial War Museum

Calling all war history buffs this is the place for you! See multiple eras of wartime weapons and vehicles up close and personal. While this museum is very interesting and educational, there are some sections that serve as haunting reminders of what people are capable of. When you step inside you will feel how important and powerful this museum is in more ways than one.
