A centuries old, weathered stone castle gate marks the entrance to Tollymore Park

1.) Tollymore Forest Park

As you enter the park through the historic archway, you begin to get a feel for Ireland’s rich history. Get the sensation of walking back through time as you follow long winding trails upstream in and out of castle remnants from centuries ago. Also, the waterfalls and lush greenery overtaking the ruins make for great photo opportunities.

2.) Belfast

The capital of Northern Ireland makes for a fun place to stop while venturing the Irish outdoors. An exotic botanical garden, plenty of places to shop, the beautiful city hall, and of course great food are just a few of the many offerings that make Belfast the best city in Northern Ireland!

3.) Rathlin Island

Stuck between Northern Ireland and Scotland, this small stop is an amazing place to get out and explore. With hiking trails, seaside cliffs, lighthouses, and plenty of puffins, Rathlin Island has all the highlights of Northern Ireland condensed into one tiny island!

Pro Tip- Bring cash to rent a bike if you don’t feel like walking the trails

4.) Causeway Coastal Route

Lush cliffs overlooking the sea, rolling green pastures, and numerous incredible landmarks make this the best way to experience the full Irish landscape. 33.5 miles from Ballycastle to Portstewart may seem like a lot, but the grueling hike is more than worth it with ancient castles and breathtaking views rewarding you every step of the way!

Pro Tip- Make sure you have cash for a bus ride back

A lit concrete path runs along the cave wall following a slow river descending deeper into the Marble Arch Caves

5.) Marble Arch Caves

One of the largest caves in the UK, this landmark is a fascinating adventure for the whole family. Discover many oddly shaped rock formations from sharp and jagged towers rising from the floor and ceiling to heaps of rock that appear as though they bubbled up from the earth below. You can also take an underground boat ride as you follow the miles of subterranean streams!

Pro Tip- Check out the nearby Cuilcagh boardwalk for a fantastic sprawling view.

Grassy white cliffs tower above the sandy beach and ocean waves looking from Carrick A Rede Rope Bridge

6.) Carrick A Rede Rope Bridge

Watch the waves crash against the rocks as you swing nearly 100ft above the jagged ocean below. Standing for over 250 years, this old fisherman’s bridge is sure to get your heart pumping with every shaky step you take. As entertaining as the adrenaline filled bridge is, the real reason this is a must-see is the amazing view. A wall of grassy cliffs jutting straight out of the sea makes this one of the most gorgeous sights in the country.

Pro Tip- Make sure you hang on to your stuff because the collection of phones under the bridge proves some people did not.

7.) Giant's Causeway

Of all the picturesque sights to see in Northern Ireland, this might be at the top of the list. Massive hexagonal columns clumped together forming miniature islands that rise straight out the beach as if they were placed there by accident. Witnessing the waves crash against these “giant” structures is something that has to be seen in person to be truly appreciated.

Pro Tip- Get there early or late to avoid the mid-day crowds

8.) Glenoe Waterfall

If you’re looking for a hidden gem that is so picture perfect you would think you have stepped into a movie, then this spot is for you! Watching the water gently cascade down the best waterfall in Ireland as a ray of sunlight peaks through the surrounding forest is the most idyllic way to spend a day in Northern Ireland.

Pro Tip- Follow the trail on the right for a view above the falls.

Hundreds of years old dark twisting trees of the Dark Hedges run overtop a thin empty road

9.) Dark Hedges

One of the most photographed spots in Northern Ireland, this collection of twisted, wicked looking trees seems too good to be true. Growing since the 1700s, this spooky set of trees has featured in many movies and TV shows over the years, including Game of Thrones. It is rumored that for those brave enough to walk the woods at night you can see the ghost of the Grey Lady roaming from tree to tree.

Pro Tip- It can get crowded, so try going early or… late if you’re brave enough. 👻
